  1. Long ago the people in Ireland had different food to what they have now. The kind of bread they had was Whole-meal and oten cakes baked in a griddle. They had other kind of food. It was oat-meal wet with water. They called it porridge.
    If the people in these times, saw a person fit, they would say, he was swollen with porridge. They had knives made if wood to cut the bread. They had wooden spoons also to eat the porridge. The most of the people had not any tables.
    They would sit round a skib in the middle of the floor to eat their food. The skib was left on
