  1. About ninety years ago there was a great famine all over Ireland. All the crops failed, the people had no food to eat, and they were dying of hunger.
    They had to boil nettles and eat them. Some of them, had food stored up for their own use. They used to have it hidden in the bogs, for fear the hungry people would get it on them.
    About ten or twelve people used to be buried every day. They used to carry them to the grave on a door, and put them in the
