- The following is a list of local beliefs about the weather.
When the sky is very dark and gloomy it is surely going to rain.
Another sign of rain is when a circle of light comes round the moon.
The night before the rain the stars begin to twinkle.
The clouds also move across the sky. If the rainbow is in the sky in the morning, it is a sure sign of rain. When the wind is blowing from the south, it is from the rainy point.(continues on next page)
