    of ash. The leather is tacked in around, with a piece of tin to keep the heads of the nails from going through the leather. There is an iorn tip to keep the timber wearing. There is also another kind of shoe called "gutta perka shoes". It was much like red rubber. It was melted into the soles of the shoes about two inches in thickness. They wore well, if they were not broken across the sole. If the people were seen with those shoes people would scarcely ever stop laughing.
