    and over shoes. In olden times they had timber shoes. These shoes were called clogs. They had timber soles and these shoes lasted then four or five years. The girls and boys did not wear any shoes during winter or summer until they were fifteen or sixteen years of age. Every night before going to bed they would wash their feet in hot water. When they had them washed they would throw out the water because the good people wanted it.
