There was a man one time who lived in the parish of Killimer in the townland of Ballymcrinan.

There was a man one time who lived in the parish of Killimer in the townland of Ballymcrinan. He was one day working in a fort setting cabbage. He was not very long working when a linen wheel came spinning around him then it raised up and crossed a field into the tide. The man left the fort and as soon as he left it the linen wheel came back again into the fort and disappeared. The man got sick and only lived three months. Nothing ever since was done with this fort.

Mrs Martin Walshe lived in Moyadda, near Kilrush.

Mrs. Martin Walsh lived in Moyadda, near Kilrush. In the famine days she and her family were badly off. A baby was born to her and while they were all out of the house getting the baby baptised she got out of bed and found a raw turnip which she ate. She lived to be 88 years of age and died in my father's house at Tullagower. She nursed all our family of fifteen members. She knew very little English. We got a good Irish vocabulary from her and lots of Irish prayers.
