  2. There was a hedge school in Raffoney about seventy - five years ago. The teacher was John Farrelly and commonly known as John Pauidi. He was my great-grandfather. The school was on the farm owned by the Sheridans now. In the Winter time the school was held in Farrelly's house which is still the dwelling of the Sheridan family. When Farrelly finished school and farm-work he drank a good mug of poteen which he made himself. he is dead about forty years now.
