Dreams to some come very true and come grief to more
As it did to me and my country thats poor old Eirns shore
I dremt I was upon a hill becide a lovely vale
And there I spied a charming girl her name was Granuale

Her hair hung over her shoulders as she was dressed in green
I tought she was the fairest girl that ere my eyes had seen
As I drew near I then could hear by the plesant morning gale.
As she went aloing she sang a song I am poor old Granuale.

I hastened on my footsteps those words to her did say
Now are you from the heavens above or what brought you this way
Its within a sigh she did reply by my grief I cant conceal,
For my patriot, John Dillon who was put all into jail

Yes Dillon was put in prison and the reason you can see
For loving dear old Ireland his native country
To defend the Irish people he tried many a plan and scheme
