   Here are some of the games I play; Cook and Witch in the Well This is the way Cook is played. We mark a square piece of the ground which we call den. Some girl stays in den and covers her face and the others go and hide. When they are hidden they call "cook" and the girl in the den goes and looks for them. If they can reach the den before they are caught they can hide the next time, and who ever is caught last will have to stay, in den and let the others hide. Witch in the well is played in the following way. Some girl sits beside a well and pretends to be a witch, and some of the other children pretends to be the mother.The children all run to her and say "Mother our hands are dirty" She then tells them to go to the well and wash them They all go and after awhile they come back and say "There is a witch in the well". Then she sends too more to see if it is true; they come back and say it is. The mother goes herself and when she reaches the well the witch asks her what does she want and she replies a "bucket of water" They witch says, "Where is the money?" The mother replies, "There is a hole in my pocket and I lost it" Then the mother asks the witch what does she want and she replies "A bag of sand" The mother asks the witch what does she want the bag of sand for and she says, "To sharpen a knife "And what do you want to sharpen a knife for;" asks the mother "To cut your throat;" said the witch. Then they all run and she runs after them and when she catches them she puts them to boil and when they are done she eats them
