  1. One day a man was cutting a "sceac" on a ditch of a rath when he heard a strange noise, and when he turned his head to see what it was he could not turn his head back again. The following is a story which I heard about a rath in this locality. One day a great many years ago a man cut "sceacs" on the ditch of a rath and brought them home for firing, but when he put them down to burn they started jumping about the floor and he had to go back to the rath with them.
