- Once upon a time there was a man, and he used to get his milk in a farm house. One night he went to the house and there was no one in, and he said I will return about eight oclock for the milk for the morning. There were two boys living in this house and they said that they would go to the cross-roads beside a grave to frighten the man when he would be going home. So they put white petticoats on them, and went to the cross-roads, they got in behind the ditch and when they heard a person coming along the road they got out on the middle of the road. When they went out on the road there was a ghost standing on the middle of the road and instead of they frightening the man the ghost frightened them.(continues on next page)
