  1. During the time of religious persecution in Ireland people could not hear Mass so easily as we can now, and the priests were hunted and could only celebrate Mass in some hidden place. Oo Ballard hill there is a passway called Saint Kevins road, it is said that as the Monks were being chased by the persecutors, and fearing the books and vestment which they were carrying would be taken they quickly made a hole and buried them in it, and they are supposed to be there still, and no one knows the exate place.
