    St John the Baptist was titular saint of the parish of Monasteroris at Ballykillen fort in this parish, there is a remarkable rath with a vault in the centre, in which were found some 50 yrs back, several curious relics and some ancient coins in good preservation.
    At Drumcooly (Cowley's druim or ridge) there is an old burial ground which is still in use.
    Laurence Fullar or Fullord succeeded Fr Nugent, native of Edenderry where his family had a brewery; educated in France appointed P.P. Edenderry soon after his return. Died 1802. In latter years he was completely blind.
