- (continued from previous page)to finish the churning quickly. There is a little glass in the lid of the churn and when this glass is clear the churning is finished. The butter is then taken out and put in a keeler. It is then washed a couple of times to take the milk out of it. Then it is salted and made up or packed.The butter-milk is used for making bread. A drink of boiled butter-milk is very good for a cold.If a person comes into a house when the churning is going on he should take a turn to assure the owner that the butter would not be "taken" by the visitor.
