Farewell, old Raheen I'm going to leave you, Where I spent many a pleasant day

Composed by Michael Redmond, Raheen, Adamstown, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, Barony of Bantry about 60 years ago on his third but unsuccessful attempt to emigrate to America. He died in 1901 aged 80 yrs.
Farewell old Raheen I’m going to leave you
Where I spent many a pleasant day
In my young days when I knew no sorrow
No pain or sorrow did my mind dismay
    II
I’m going to leave you and cross the ocean
To seek promotion on a foreign shore
Had my parents lived id have never wandered
Or never dreamt then of leaving home
But now they’re gone I’ve none to comfort
