    The wages paid for Relief Works was from 1d to 3d per day. Some yellow meal (ground Indian corn) was all that was received for a hard day's work. The allowance of yellow meal was usually 2 lb per head, per day. This was obtained at the local mill which at that time was De Lacey's Yoletown, Ballycullane. This mill is working still.
