  1. About six years ago we have a very severe snow storm. It lasted for one week.
    During this time it was impossible for anything to travel.
    Hundreds of lives were lost in this snow storm. People died for want of food and fires. After a few days the supply of food ran out, and the people were found in their homes almost exhausted for food.
    Some people when returning home with food were found dead outside their own doors, because they were not able to open their doors with the cold of their hands.
    In Dublin and other places people with aeroplanes had to bring food to the people around and drop it down at the houses where they might find it.
    Cattle died of starvation and more of them were lost in the big drifts.
    It was the severest snow storm that ever was in this county.
    The snow drifted the whole day and it made it more dangerous and more difficult to travel.
