    The wild birds that come to my district are:- Wild Geese; Wild Ducks; the Cuckoo; the Corn Crake: the Swallow: the Thrush: the Blackbird: the Sparrow: the Snipe: the Swan the Plover and the Partridge. The Wild Goose and Wild Duck the Corn Crake, the Cuckoo the Swallow and many others migrate. The Wild Geese and Ducks and Swans build their nests on Loch Ree. The Swallow builds her nest in the house-eaves. The Thrush the Sparrow the Corn Crake and the Blackbird build their nests in trees or in bushes. Most birds build their nest's with hay and mud. When a bird is hatching her eggs she sits on them for three or four weeks. Boys are told that if they touch eggs in a nest that the mother will leave the nest altogether. If the Wild Geese come late in the season it is a great sign of a bad winter.
