  1. I live in a place called Johnstown in the barony of Moygoish. It is in the parish of Ballynacargy. There are nine families in it. They have all different names. It is only from our house that children go to school. All the others are grown up. There are about thirty people altogether. There are two old bachelors and one old maid in our townland. There are only two thatched houses. All the rest are slated. I do not know how the townland got its name. The widow Kerrigan is over 70 but she is no good for telling stories. All they talk about here is turkeys and
