  1. We are told but few stories in the locality about the Fianna. The following is a story told to me by James Finnerty about the Fianna On one occasion Fionn and another giant were on Cnoe Astia hill and they had a test to see which was the better man at stone-throwing. Fionn took up a huge boulder and threw it with all his might. It kept on flying through the air until it alighted at the bottom of the hill of Ushnagh. It is called the 'Cat's Rock' by the local people and weighs thirty tons.
    On the summit of the hill there is a lough where an old witch named Oisin lived. It is told that St.
