The king that he would ask his mother would she let him marry
Jack went home to tell his mother. He went in to a house he asked could he stay. The man showed him a room ; he went up to it and got into bed and fell asleep. The door opened and in came a big high man. He went over to the bed where Jack was asleep and shook him. Jack opened his eyes and when he saw the man he nearly fainted The man said "did you give the crock of gold to the priest" "I did" said Jack "Did you give the one to the king" said the man "No I did not" I kept them for myself. Well you may go and give them to him in the morning.
Jack got up the following morning and started back. About half past four in the evening.
