  1. (continued from previous page)
Till from your hand the drooping jug would fall
But o'er these faults the curtain I will draw
And keep withing the bonds of modest law
But still it is a fact that is well known
Woman was and is to evil prone
And ever since old circling time began
    Woman was a drag-chain upon a man
Twas woman first caused Adam's fall
And 'twas a woman led away King Saul
Twas woman's mingled lust and love
Consumed Alcedes in the cedar grove.
And 'twas woman gave the wine to Lot
Till blushing shame and reason he forgot
'Twas woman made King David weep
And cut the hair off Samson when asleep
    'Twas woman's outside empty charms
That urged the Greeks and Trojans to take arms.
Twas woman in Old England first
That caused King Hal to make a breach of trust
And twas woman at the present time
Caused me to write this rough unpolished rhyme.
O bedad! says Judy rude unruly Pat
You much gave me equal tit for tat
But I'll uphold my own opinion still
And in spite of reason I'll maintain my will.
