Kites are made from coloured paper and attached to cords.
In former times boys often made traps to catch birds. A box was placed in a slanting position being supported by a bit of stick to which was attached a long cord. The boy hid at some distance and held the cord in his hand some seed or crumbs were placed in the box to coax the birds. When the birds came to get the crumbs a tug at the cord drew out the supporting stick and the box fell and the bird was kept prisoner.
