Jimmy Reynolds was driving a priest one night in a horse and trap and the horse stopped.
Jimmy got down and led the horse by. The same thing happened on the return journey. The priest told Jimmy that if he was ever afraid at night to put his first finger over his thumb so as to form a cross, that the fear would go and that nothing could have any power to frighten him. (The first finger should be wound round the top joint of the thumb)
