Johnny Traynor, Grandfather of the present Traynors) who lived at Walterstown Castle, was coming home one night from Navan when he heard steps hurrying after him. He was getting tired from hurrying on ahead, so at last he crossed the ditch at Dowdstown Woods adn lay down. Then he heard voices saying "What will we do now." Then one voice said, Have we not Johnny Traynor to help us. Another voice cried out "Come out here Johnny Traynor." Johynny said he had to go out and help them to carry a coffin. They went to two or three graveyards. At each one they said, We will not bury him here." At last they buried the coffin in Trevit Graveyard. Whent he burial was over they asked Johnny - if he would come with them or if he would rather go home. He said "home." They said that if he came to meet them on that night 12 months, they would make him happy for ever. With that a puff of wind landed him in Walterstown. He never went to meet them.
