  1. St Patrick is supposed to have built a church at Drumshallon which is about 2 miles north of the school. It is said that it was the second church built by the saint.
    Blessed Oliver Plunkett lived in this district at times in a house owned at one time by a man named Hegarty. He said Mass in this house and also in the ruined Church of St. Patrick in Drumshallon. The piers of the gate leading to Hegartys house still stand because it is said the mortar was mixed with dragon's blood.
