  1. There was a poet in Kilmurry [?] named Andrew Curtin. He was a local poet. He composed songs dispraising the English. He was a school teacher and he died in the year 1738.
    Those are the words of a song Thomas Crowley composed.
    The Maiden's Dream.
    I
    Dreams to some come very true,
    And come with grief to more,
    As it did to me in my country.
    I mean poor Erin's shore.
    I dreamt I was upon a hill,
    By the side of a lovely dale,
    And its there I spied a lovely maid,
    They called her Grannuaile.
    II
    Her lovely hair hung down her neck,
    And she was dressed in green,
    I thought she was the fairest girl,
    My eyes had ever seen.
    As I drew near I then could hear,
    By a pleasant morning gale,
    As she went along she sang her song,
    I'm poor old Grannuaile.
    III
    I hastened my footsteps,
    And those words to her did say,
