- Further Superstitious Practices.1.It is believed that if one goes out at dawn on a may morning and takes some water from another person's well ,and skims off the top and keeps some ,a few drops of this water put into the churn when making will have the effect of "bringing "the cream or butter from the owner of the well,and of increasing one's own supply.

Another May morning charm is as follows--A person who wishes to "take"his neighbour's cream or butter goes out on May morning at sun rise and takes home in a bag some of the clay from the cow-tracks or hoof marks in the neighbours(continues on next page)
