    Many years ago there lived a high-way robber by the name of O'Halloran.This man lived in the wood of Cratloe in a little hut.He was apowerful man and he demanded custom of every one that passed by that way going to Limerick.One day it so happened that another great fighting man named Thomas Boccach O'Griffey from Freigh near Miltown Malbay was going to Limerick with a mule and a load of fish.O'Halloran halted him and addressed him in the following words:-
    Custom a dhuine",a dubhairt O'Halloran
    "Cad é an custom ", arsa Gríofa
    "Airgead a dhuine ",a dubhairt "O Halloran
    "Níl aon airgead agam acht airgead ospeann uaim féin ",arsa Gríofa
