About a mile and a half from my home in the barony of Clanwilliam and in the townland of Toureen underneath the shadow of the Galtee mountains lies the well, cell and ruined chapel of St Pecán.

    (continued from previous page)
two feet one inch in height.
As you go in the door there is a holy water stoup on your left.
Opposite the chapel is a tomb stone one flat slab and an other slab standing upright: the low slab is two feet one inch in length and nine inches in height and the upper slab is two feet two inches in length and eleven inches in height. this tomb stone is on a little hill.
Under an old hawthorn tree there are more tomb stones and a round stone which was once a pound of butter.
This is the story of the butter. A woman who had butter once met St Peacán and the Saint asked her for some but she hid the butter behind her back and refused the Saint. When the Saint had gone she took the butter from behind her back only to find it was turned into stone.
About two hundred yards from this chapel is the Saint's Cell. The width of the door being eighteen inches and the diameter of the cell seven feet
