  1. The Taking of Bally-David Barracks.
    There was a great Fenian Brother named Jeremiah Boddy of Cappauniac, Bansha. He voulenteered at a meeting of this Brother Fenians to capture the guns and ammunition of the RIC at Bally David Barracks.
    He took a ladder from Owen Hickey's of Cappauniac, a mile from the Barracks. He then decided he would take off all his clothes in a field of Wheat belonging to James Hannon a quarter of a mile from the Barracks. He left on his boots only to save his feet to the Barrack yard with the ladder on his naked shoulder. He put the ladder up to the top window of the barrack and going in captured all the guns. But unfortunately on getting out he tripped over a bucket of water and alarmed the Police who gave chase. he had to hide the guns and leave his Boots and ladder after him. The guns were recovered by the Police in a day or two.
