- There was a family by the name of Lonergan who lived at a place called Gortacullen, about three miles from Ardfinnan who were famous long ago for making cars and carts and who got a great sale for them. There was a sort of Aray Car , called a ''ralehaun'' which was made and used in Ballybacon.
There are still members of the Lonergan family , still living in Ballybacon and who carry on the trade, but only on a very small scale; such as the making of donkey - carts.
