    There is another old custom. On Halloween night a number of people gather together and blacken their faces and put on masks on themselves and dress themselves up as funny looking as they could. Then they go around from house to house singing songs and playing music and gathering money. Anyone that could not give them money would give them some Caul Canon.

  2. People lit fires on the gate-way and they made every cow jump that fire. They did that on May Eve. People go around blessing every field on their farm and they also bless every animal on their farm. They do this on May Eve. When a person would get a new house built or a new floor put down they would always give a dance. When a person got a new floor put down he puts delph under the foundation.
