  1. The fair in Thurles is held evey month in the square of the town. The buyers often go out early to crossroads and byeways and make deals with farmers that are on their way to the fair
    There are no tolls paid in this town. Two men would be making a bargain. The price would be going up and down. Finally one would put out his hand and if the other agreed he would his him on the hand. Then the bargain would be made. Then the animal would be marked with a white mark. When a horse is sold the halter is not given away with him to the new owner. The Spring fairs are the biggest fairs of the year. There is not a special fairday for sheep and horses
