    Long ago my father made candles and how he made them he got the lard of a sheep and he rendered the lard, and he put a linen thread through the lard for a wick.
    Those candles were not as good as the candles we have now. They did not show as much light because the grease burned too quickly for the wick. He shaped the candles with his hands. The candles were not as round as the candles we have now.
