- The famine did a good deal of harm in this district. The potatoes decayed in the drills and in the pits. The English Government supplied the district with meal and seed to grow the potatoes next year. People had to go into the poor houses also.
- There were a few poets in this district long ago. Thomas O'Brien, Foilduff made many songs including, - "Frawley's Fray", "Shearheys Ball" "Bun(continues on next page)
