  1. Long ago a woman had a little boy that never grew up.
He was always in the cradle and used to spend most of his time crying.
The only thing that used to please him was plaiting straws, so they used to give him some and it passed away the time.
One day a man came in and the mother said that the boy was not growing and never tried to walk.
There was a fort near, and the man told the mother to go out and come in again and say that the fort was on fire. So she went out and came in and told the boy. He got up out of the cradle and walked out, an old man, and was never seen again.
