  1. Holy wells are very numerous in this country and in all cases bear the name of an Irish Saint. One which is of special interest to the people of this Parish is St. Johns Well located on the roadside at the northern end of the town. Many years ago people visited this well on pattern day and made their round that is walking around the well several times in prayer and other holy exercises.
    These regulations were handed down from generation. Also it is believed that cures were numerous in these for off days. Like
