  1. Away back in the eighties Dr. J. C. Daly Borriskane formerly of this district and J. S. Mitchel Esq. Bartoose Emly were the champion weight-throwers of the world. Mr. Nicolas Ryan Clerihan Clonmel Co. Tipperary excelled himself in such a manner that he saved a man's life by raising a car load of corn which was about to pass over a man's body who had fallen off the load. A man named David O'Brien of Ballivistea Emly Co.
    Tipperary was reputed to have lifted an exceedingly large stone in the graveyard at Emly. Mr. Reale
