  1. The usual marriage time in my district is at Christmas. After the parents or guardian of the girl to be married, have made very close inquiries about the intended husband, they send the "account" which means a trusted messenger to the house of the intended and introduces the match. If the messenger is favourably received his task is a very pleasant one, and he arranges a meeting between the parties. The next stage is, the parties meet and the prospective husband is asked what dowry he is expecting, and the match is either made or off. If the match is made the man is
