    the well are pumped by electricity from the power house which is built near it to the resevoir from which it is conveyed by pipes to three fountaions which are erected in different places in the town. The water may be got into the houses by means of the pipes also. Once upon a time where was a child washed in St Johns Well and the well removed by an unnatural power from inside the wall to the middle of a field. On another occasion a mans shirt was washed in it and it removed from the middle of the field to the side of the road.
