  1. Forts or Moats are very plentiful in this district, some of them are a pretty good height and seem to be arched in the centre, while others are low and flat on the top. All of them have white thorn bushes growing on or around them.
    People living in the neighbourhood of Moats, have a good many stories to tell about these strange fairy houses and whatever superstition is attached to them, no one wants to interfere in any way with them.
    A story is told by a man living near here, that as he was returning from a wake late one night, his road lay very near a moat, and as he was passing by, he was amazed to hear and see
