  1. There is a moat near our house and there are strange tales told about it. The people say that when the cows were turned in, in the evening that a small black cow used to turn up to the moat to be milked and she used to come home milked. So while this was going on the farmer was getting more prosperous every day. They were not pleased at that so this evening they stopped the cow themselves and milked her. Next morning when the farmer got up the cow was dead and every cow they had died calving that year.
