  1. When St Patrick was banishing the serpents out of Ireland the story goes that he allowed one to remain in a lake in the Galtees.
It is said that the serpent is chained at the bottom of the lake, but that St Patrick promised that he would be released on an Easter Monday at the end of seven years.
Every Easter Monday morning he puts up his head and says "Is fada an Luan é a Padraig" That is the tradition.
