  1. The main road from Tipperary town to Mitchelstown was made as relief work during the Famine Period.
The workers were paid at the rate of 4 D [?] per day.
There are several old roads in the parish, one road ran through Lissard in the northern part of the parish - through Mr. O'Brien's farm by Mr. Maher's front door, by the hill of Castlecrea, into the village.
Another old road leads from the main road in the townland of Garnaclea [?] to the village. The river Aherlow flows through the road and until recently the river was crossed by means of a ford. A bridge was built recently.
At various cross roads in the district the farmers gathered together and discussed the prospects and conditions under which they were obliged to work to secure a living
