    Monagea:-
This townland is situated about two miles to the south west of Newcastle West. Long ago this townland was all a bog and was a great place for wild geese, and that is why it was called Món na Gé or "the bog of the geese".

    Newcastle West:-
This place got its name from the Castle that was built by the Knights Templars in the year eleven eighty four and the town grew around it. There are two entrances to the Castle. One entrance is in Bridge Street and the other is in the Square.
