- In olden times people ate two meals only and they consisted of potatoes. Potatoes were boiled early in the morning, piled on the table and were eaten with sour milk for breakfast and the same menu for the dinner and gruel for the supper.
An old man named Paddy O'Sullivan who lives near me told me that he worked in Clounties cutting turf and a keeler of potatoes were taken out to the bog on a woman's head each day and eaten there.
