   Near the Holy Well in Dromtariffe, Co. Cork, grew a tree and the owner of the land wished for some reason to cut it down. When his men had a portion of the tree cut throuh, the trunk opened out and to their dismay they saw, what they took to be crosses, embedded in the wood. These crosses were right down through the tree. The men ceased the cutting at once and did their best to fix up the portion that had been interfered with. The tree was supposed to be a "blessed" one and is still to be seen there.

   In a small house belonging to the O'Callaghans of Banteer, Co. Cork, there lived a man who had only one child and this was a daughter. Everything she asked for she would get as she was a spoiled pet. One evening she mentioned to her father that she never saw anyone hanged and she would like him to hang some one for her. Her father went out and called one of his servants and hanged him. From that
