    Gleann Dá Fhiac 3 miles west of Banteer. When it began to alarm she got such a fright that she threw it away & ran from the spot as fast as ever she could. The clock was picked up again by Tade & resold.

  2. In the big flood over sixty years ago John Fahy local postman, was drowned at Ballymaquirk Bridge over Blackwater, about 2 mile north of Banteer village. He was driving the mail car between Banteer & Kanturk. Some of the mail bags were found in Grehan's Inches about 3 miles from Banteer and others were found as far away as Fermoy. The mail car jennet was carried to Allva Bridge about 200 yards from Ballymaquirk Bridge and one of his legs was outside the shaft of the car. Fahy's body was found at the Junction of Alloa, Blackwater.
    Lombardstown & Roskeen bridges were swept away by this flood.
