  1. There was once a consecrated Church in Killaway Banteer. The ruins of this Church are still to be seen on the farm belonging to Patrick Riordan, Mass was often celebrated in this Church during the Penal Times.
    In the year 1842 an image of the Blessed Virgin was found in a part of the ruined mason work. There were large flags, covered with Latin writing found there also.
    A priest was once celebrating Mass in Mrs. Lehane's house Killavoy where the flags were stored for safety and he was able to read the Latin on them, for those who were present.
